Step 1. Open the Word document. You can insert a photo at any point in the document, you don't always have to have text in the document before you insert a photo. With the Word document open, click on Insert on the toolbar (which is at the top of the page, usually beginning with the word "File" to the far left). Click on Picture. If you do not see "Picture" on the drop-down menu, then click on the little down arrows at the bottom of the menu to expose the full menu. Now, click on "From file" on the next drop-down menu that appears. |

Step 2. Locate the picture that you want to insert. Typically, photos from a digital camera are uploaded to the computer into the "My Pictures" folder. However, you should look in whatever folder you use to store your photos. To find the picture you want to insert, change the "Look in" field to wherever it is you keep your photos. |

Step 3. To insert a photo, simply click on the photo that you want to insert. The photo and the photo file name will be "highlighted" (usually by a thick blue line, as seen to the left). Now, click on the "Insert" button at the bottom right of the pop-up window. |

Step 4. The photo is now inserted into the Word document. |

Step 5. To continue typing the card or letter, first, hit the "Enter" key on the keyboard. This moves the cursor to the first line under the picture. Continue typing.

Step 6. To "see" the whole page, click on View on the toolbar, and then click on Print Layout. |

Step 7. Now you can see how the whole page looks. Note: Your document may look different, depending on which Word document template you are using! |

Step 8. You can insert another photo if you want to. Simply repeat Steps 1-3.
If the photo is too big, you can change the size! See Step 9 (below). |
