Review a more complete tutorial for creating a Word document template for a free printable: (The tutorial uses a Mom's Break PDF Free Printable as an example. The steps to create a Word document template are exactly the same for the Print Me Free Purple Flower stationery.)
|
|
| ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ | ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
| Step 1. The free Word document template provided in this tutor (see Step 3) is for the Print Me Free Purple Flower stationery, which is available at: Print Me Free Purple Flower Stationery. This tutor provides just a brief overview for how to create your own Word document template for this printable (you can also use the same process to create a Word document template for any computer stationery). More complete instructions are available at: How to Use PDF Free Printables as Computer Printer Stationery. The Word document template for the Purple Flower stationery is available as a free download (see Step 3) in this tutor. |

Step 2. Print the stationery page. Determine the margins that will be needed so that you can create a letter in Word and it will print correctly on the stationery. Note, that you do not cut out the stationery before you print it. You will only cut out the stationery after you have printed your letter (or whatever else you are going to print on the stationery). After you determine the margins, open a new Word document. Adjust the margins in the Page Setup. The fully illustrated tutorial for this step is available if you'd like to learn how to make your own Word templates, see Step 1. Otherwise, just skip to the next step.

| Step 3. Download the free Word document template: This Word document template opens in a new window for your convenience. Save it to your computer so that you can use it whenever you wish to print on the Print Me Free Purple Flower Stationery. NOTE: When you open the Word template, it will appear BLANK, except for the words "Start here." This is OK. The margins are correctly set for the corresponding PDF Stationery. When you start to type in Word, the text will automatically start and stop in the right places. Delete or type over "Start here" (otherwise it will print in your letter). |

This example is from the tutorial How to Use PDF Free Printables as Computer Printer Stationery, which also provides other tips for typing your letter prior to printing it on the stationery.
|
Step 4. When you are typing your letter in Word, remember that there will appear to be a lot of "blank space" on all sides. This is because the margins have been adjusted so that your letter will print correctly on the printable stationery.

Step 5. After you type your letter in Word, you print it on the Purple Flower Stationery. To do this, you'll need to put a blank Purple Flower Stationery page in your printer's paper tray. You might need to experiment a little so that your letter will print on the design side of the stationery. Refer to your printer manual for assistance (or experiment with putting the stationery in color side up, and then color side down to determine how to put it in so that the letter prints correctly). After you print your letter, then trim the stationery. Fold the letter in thirds, like an accordion (or as you would fold a business letter). The folded letter fits in a standard envelope, 3-5/8 x 6-1/2". For another alternative, you can fold the letter in half, and use this free printable envelope (download and save to your computer, and print as many as you like): Blank Envelope For a tutorial for how to fold and glue the free printable envelope, go to: Envelopes for Quarter-Fold Cards: How to Fold Them. |

Step 6. Bonus tip! Learn to insert photos into your free printable stationery! It's really easier than you think to insert photos (your personal photos or any other clipart images) into a Word document!
