Using the Father's Day PDF Printable available from Mom's Break, you can use the free Word Document Template provided in this tutorial to create a very personalized card or letter for Dad.

Step 1.

This tutorial will give you the basic instructions for using the free Word document template that accompanies the Mom's Break Father's Day Football PDF Free Printable. Links are provided below for downloading the PDF printable (shown here to the left) and the free Word document template, see Step 6.

Step 2.

You can create your own Word document template by making the four measurements shown here (the football printout on the left). Go through the tutorial mentioned in Step 1 for more complete details.

If you are making your own Word doc, you will need to print one Football PDF Printable so that you can make and mark the margin measurements.

If you are going to download the free Word document template, then you will need to print a Football PDF Printable first, to use as "printer stationery" after you personalize the Word document (see Step 4).

Step 3.

In an open Word document, adjust the margin settings to correspond to the four measurements you made in Step 2.

This is a fairly easy change to make the to Word Page Setup options. See the tutorial mentioned in Step 1 for more details.

Step 4.

In Word, and using the Word document template, type your special message to Dad. Remember that when you open the Word document, it will appear blank. Just begin to type. When you print it, the margins will be correct for the Football PDF Printable.

You can use all of Word's features to use creative fonts, adjust the font size, and change the font colors. You can be even more creative and insert pictures or graphics into the Word document! For completely illustrated instructions, go to:

Step 5.

You can test what you have typed in the Word document template by printing it on plain computer paper. Then put the printed Football PDF Printable (with no text on it) behind, and then hold them up to a light. This will show you approximately how it will look once it is printed on the Football PDF Printable.

Step 6.

Put the blank Football PDF Printable into your printer and print the Word document again. This time, it will print on the Football PDF Printable.

You can mail this letter to your Dad, or put it in a frame for him to hang on the wall. No matter how he gets it, he'll appreciate the time you took to make a very personal Father's Day salute!
