[This tutorial takes the place of Halloween Frame Craft, which is a Word document, and opens in a separate window. The Word document contains no advertisements and you may want to print it if you are using this craft in a school class, church group, scouts, or other children's day care facilities.]

Step 1.

Assemble items needed to make the craft:

  • Halloween Frame prints (see below for link for free downloads)

  • Cardboard

  • Construction paper

  • Kid-friendly scissors, glue stick

  • Washable markers

  • Halloween stickers, glitter (optional, not shown here

The two frames shown in the illustrations are just two of the many frames available at Mom's Break Halloween. To download your free printable Halloween frames, go to: http://halloween.momsbreak.com.

Step 2.

Following the instructions printed on the Halloween frames, cut off the surrounding edge of the frame along the dotted lines.

Cut out the inside of the frame. Young crafters may need some assistance with this part.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 3.
Using the frame as a guidelines, mark the cardboard and cut it to be the same size as the frame.
As an alternative, allow the cardboard to be larger than the frame, just as you see here. This gives little Trick-or-Treaters more space to "decorate" with stickers and glitter.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 4.

As shown here, the cardboard is now trimmed so that the frame fits over it, with no cardboard showing along the outer edges of the frame.

Step 5.

Using the same instruction as Step 4, cut the colored construction paper to the same size as the cardboard.

If you choose the alternative craft idea, trim the construction paper to the same size as the larger piece of cardboard.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 6.
Glue the colored paper to the cardboard, and then glue the frame to the colored paper.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 7.

The inside of the frame can now be decorated!

It can be a scary Halloween picture drawn by your Trick-or-Treater, or it can be an "I Love You, Grandma" picture for Grandma to hang up on her refrigerator!

Take a picture of your Trick-or-Treater, print to size (approximately 5x7") and glue to the construction paper. This makes a great work of "refrigerator art"!

You can also cut out other Mom's Break Halloween pictures, and glue them to the colored paper.

Paste stickers, glue glitter---go wild!!!

This completes the instructions for the Halloween Frame Craft.
