It's fun, and easy, to make your own Easter cards! Using free printables offered by Mom's Break Easter, you can make a colorful Easter Egg card using construction paper (or just plain computer paper).

You'll need:

  • 8-1/2 x 11" colored construction paper
  • #10 business envelope (of any color, shown in green here)
  • kid-friendly scissors and glue stick (I prefer Elmer's, goes on purple, dries clear)
  • colored markers, pencils, or crayons
  • Free printable Easter Egg prints offered by Mom's Break

The free printables shown here are actually offered as prints for iron-on transfers. I simply printed on plain computer paper. For these free printables (and other Easter Egg prints), go to: Mom's Break Easter Egg Free Printables

Step 1.

Fold the construction paper in thirds, like an accordion, so that the card will fit in a #10 business envelope.

Shown here, I used the width of the envelope as my guide for making the first fold.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 2.
This shows the construction paper with the two folds, that create the three sides of the card.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 3.

Use the width of the folded card to measure how much of the picture will fit on it.

As shown here, I selected the colored eggs that I wanted to use for the front of the card, and laid the card over that portion of the print. Using a pencil, trace a line along both sides.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 4.
Now you can see where to cut the print.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 5.

Trim the print.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 6.
Cut out a couple of colored eggs so that you have a nice decoration for the front of the card.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 7.

Use the glue stick to glue on the picture.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 8.
Use colored markers, colored pencils, or crayons to write on the card.
Continue on and decorate or write in the inside of the card, and the back if desired.
Write any saying you like, or simply address to Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, or whomever.
This can be simple---or very creative! Just decorate and have fun!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 9.

Use the remaining portion of the Easter Egg print to decorate the envelope.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step 10.
The tri-fold card fits into the envelope perfectly!
This simple card is colorful and fun to make...and give!
