You can create quick, and very inexpensive, Christmas gifts using these few gift wrapping items, and some clever shopping!

Everything you see here I purchased at either a "dollar" store or by using Walgreens sales coupon---or I made it myself!

As shown here:

  • Gift bags (paper sacks, purchased handled bag, self-decorated bag)
  • Tissue paper (red, green, white---and don't forget gold, silver, and glittered tissue paper!)
  • Curl ribbon
  • Gift tags (that I made, see the link below to help you make your own!)
I enjoy giving gifts to everyone---and that can get pretty expensive! So, by browsing around dollar stores and shopping with coupons offered by Walgreens (and CVS), I can usually create a nice gift, suitable for just about anyone, for under $3...including the gift wrap!

Shown here:

  • Christmas motif mug
  • pouch of hot cocoa
  • bag, tissue paper, curl ribbon
Before you wrap, remember to remove the price tag!
Fill the mug with the pouch of hot cocoa (or you can use a small bag of flavored coffee or a handful of wrapped teabags).

Use two or more pieces of tissue paper. Be sure to lay the layers of tissue paper at different angles (lay down one piece long-wise, then lay another sheet down sideway).

Place the mug in the middle of the sheets of tissue paper.

Gather up the tissue paper around the mug (or any gift item you choose) and "pinch" at the top of the mug.
Slide the wrapped mug into the bag.
Gently pull apart the spikes of tissue paper at the top of the bag.

Select a gift tag, make a hole in one corner. Be sure to fill in To/From before you tie on the tag!

Use several strands of curl ribbon to tie on the gift tag.

And there you have it! A delightfully wrapped Christmas gift! I like to give these types of gifts to friends and co-workers early so that they can enjoy using their new Christmas mugs right away!

Mug, cocoa, and gift bag: $2.29.*

*I don't include the costs of tissue paper and curl ribbon since I buy the largest quantities possible during after-Christmas sales and save until the following year.

The gift tags I make myself. For the instructions for making the gift tags, including a free tutorial and free printable gift tags, go to:
